ASSESSMENT STRATEGY: Assessment of the module will be based on two (2) equally weighted pieces of coursework:- Coursework 1: Individual Assignment (50%) The submission of a report (approx 2500 words) based on a role and task associated with the earlier elements of the module.Successful completion will demonstrate achievement of the first learning outcome. Question: Using appropriate company cases of your choice, critically discuss the drivers or reasons of strategic alliances and the main problems encountered in the strategic alliances. Instructions 1. When answering the set question, it is important to apply the range of appropriate theories, concepts, models and frameworks. Answers should also be illustrated by valid, up-to-date and detailed company examples. 2. You should ensure that you fully understand the Assessment Criteria for this assignment, which is contained at the end of this Module Information Pack (MIPs). 3. The word-count is 2500 words in total (plus or minus 10%, not including bibliography. Any material exceeding this word-count will not be assessed. Students should note the exact word-count on the front page of their assignment, along with the name of their seminar tutor.Each answer should be in report format. 4. Assignments should be word-processed using Font 12 with 1.5 line spacing. A recognised referencing system and bibliography should be included. E.g. Harvard System, numeric system. 5. Submission date: Tuesday, 22nd February 2011 at 10:00 sharp Coursework 2- Case Study Analysis (50%) The analysis of a case study and submission of a report (approx 2500 words), based on a role and task on all the elements of the syllabus. Successful completion will demonstrate achievement of the second and third learning outcomes. Question: Using the attached Nokia case study, critically analyse the case with appropriate strategic management theories, models and frameworks on why the difficulty of integration in terms of management, culture and strategy. If you were a management consultant to Nokia, what will be your recommendations to Nokia? Instructions 1. Try to approach your Module Leader, Personal Tutor or Programme Leader as soon as a problem becomes apparent. Whenever possible this should be before the deadline. Note: To satisfactory complete the module you must achieve a pass grade of 40% in all assessed elements of the module. Guidelines for attendance: - Attendance at all workshops and seminars is expected. It is the student’s responsibility to contact the module leader for course materials missed because of extenuating circumstances. The University policy requires attendance.Two or more weeks of absence (without authorisation) may attract penalties.If you are unable to attend, please notify your module leader.
